San Mateo Music Department Faculty

Mr. Attilio Tribuzi
Instrumental Music Director

Mr. Tribuzi has been teaching music since 1986. For the last thirteen years he has been at San Mateo High School conducting Jazz Band, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, String Orchestra and Chorus classes in addition to directing musical theatre productions. He is currently Department Chair of the SMHS Visual and Performing Arts Department, SMUHSD Coordinator for Music Standards, and Master of Ceremonies for the SMUHSD's In Concert Series. Mr. Tribuzi studied music at San Francisco State University as an undergraduate and earned his Master's degree at CSU Hayward, graduating summa cum laude at both institutions. He studied trumpet performance with Joe Alessi, Jay Rizzetto, Don Reinberg and Glen Fishtal, and conducting with Edwin Kruth, LeRoy Roach and Timothy Smith.

Mr. Tribuzi is also a member of the faculty of Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont where he teaches trumpet lessons as well as a course in music education. He has composed numerous pieces for his amateur and professional performing groups, and has written a children's musical entitled "To the Moon and Back". Locally, Mr. Tribuzi performs with Broadway by the Bay, the Well-Hammered Brass Quintet and Big Al's Heart and Soul. This summer, Mr. Tribuzi conducted the orchestra for Broadway by the Bay's production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Mr. Shawn Reifschneider
Choral Music Director

Mr. Reifschneider has been directing choral ensembles since 1994. Though predominately teaching choral ensemble classes, he has also taught string orchestra, musical theater, and computer applications courses. He can be found directing vocals for local high school musicals, including Hillsdale, San Mateo, and Burlingame High Schools.  Mr. Reifschneider has taught private voice lessons and directed church and community ensembles in California and Oregon.  He currently holds the Music Director position for the Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo.  Mr. Reifschneider has also been a guest conductor and festival adjudicator for San Francisco Bay Area middle school festivals and regional summer music camps. 

Mr. Reifschneider earned his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University in Hayward, double majoring in Vocal Performance and Business Administration.  He went on to pursue further study in Music and Worship, earning his Master of Divinity degree at Oregon’s Western Seminary.

Mrs. Delia Regadio
String Orchestra Accompanist

Mrs. Regadio has a long history with the San Mateo High School Music Department. She has four sons, all of whom were involved with the music department when they attended San Mateo High School. She has served on the Music Booster board and is a vocal advocate for music education in the San Mateo High Union High School District

Mr. Don Harper
Choral Accompanist

Mr. Harper has been an accompanist in the San Mateo Union High School District since 2003. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University at Bloomington, Illinois with a Bachelor of Music degree. After graduation, hee opened a piano sudio in Chapaign, Illinois and taught choral music at the Deland-Weldon School District. He also played with a piano trio and served as an organist and accompanist for local churches and choral groups. He loves working with students as a piano teacher, accompanist and coach.

Mrs. April Pietsch
Colorguard Instructor

Mrs. Pietsch is an alumni of San Mateo High School. While at San Mateo High School, she played the flute and was a member of the Color Guard. Along with her husband Brian (also a San Mateo High School Music Department alumni), she volunteers her time whenever she can to help advance arts education.

Mr. Ben Wilkinson
Colorguard Instructor

Mr. Wilkinson is a graduate of Benicia High School in Benicia, California where he played the flute and was a member of the Color Guard. He is currently attending San Jose State University, persuing a degree in Music Education.

Ms. Paige Bradshaw
Percussion Instructor

Ms. Bradshaw is a graduate of Benicia High School in Benicia, California where she played in the percussion section, specializing in mallets. She is currently attending Chabot College in Hayward, California, persuing a degree in English with a minor in Music.
