Drumline
Class Description
Fall marching drumline is a competitive section of the band review for percussionists to truly shine. The drumline has its own competition zone, music and drill and is judged on all of these things (just like the marching band, but its all percussion!).
Winter percussion is a choreographed display generally utilizing both marching percussion equipment as well as "pit" instruments such as xylophones, marimbas, bells, etc. Music is often custom arranged specifically for percussion for these shows. This gives percussionsists a chance to really shine, providing more than just the rythmic backbone that they normally do. They get the opportunity to play all the parts from the melodies and harmonies to the backbone that they always provide. It is an opportunity for them to show that they can do so much more than just bang on a drum with a couple of sticks.
No experience is necessary. Any marching band memeber who is dedicated, hard working, wants to have fun, and is willing to practice is encouraged to join. For more information regarding the drumline program, please contact the drumline instructer at drumline@bearcatbands.org.
Enrollment in the Marching Band is required to participate.
